ok so how do you enjoywirless everywhere? looks like a normal wireless router to me.

If I understand this right, everyone with a Fon router becomes automatically something like a wireless hotspot/ISP, which everyone from the Fon community can use (sharing?!). So instead of searching for wireless access points of your ISP, you only have to search for Fon routers and you can access the internet, mail etc. . If this works well, it could widespread like a snowball system. And global access everywhere, no roaming needed.

Hard to explain, but basically "unsecured" wireless rounter for fon users only, but secured for all others. A fon user can hookup on your fon router to gain access to the internet or email. The idea behind this, I think, is to reduce the high costs of installing wireless hotspots/routers everywhere.

Now if you install the Fon software etc. you get two wireless network entries, called "MyPlace" and "FON_AP" (Fon Access Point). If you select FON_AP and click connect, all you have to do is to confirm the diaplayed security dialog. Next open your browser and then login using your login information provide by email.
There is an online status screen which provides information about your login date/time, username etc. and of course login information of other Fon users using your FON_AP WiFi. So far so good --> a public AP.
After the login, you have to register your location, which is than displayed at the Fon Maps. Basically you can enter what you want, but I think a correct location info is a must.

"MyPlace" is a secure private WiFi access. You need a WPA-pass key, Fon Signal-number and other login information for setup and therefore is not public accessable. (This is the same behavior than other secured wireless networks).

The Fon router set and registering only costs about 3000Yen here in Japan and no other additional fees. If you on the road use the Fon_AP WiFi, at the secure one as an additional WiFi to your existing ADSL/LAN/WiFi etc. ....
